As in 2003 and
2005, Australian writers were joined by writers from the USA
and New Zealand to spend five days sharing presentations,
discussions, informal gatherings and excursions with discerning
readers who come from all over Australia and from overseas
to attend.
The 2007 Watermark
Muster explored the experience of MIGRATION and the effect
that migration of all eras had on the social and environmental
fabric of Australia. Some writers came as migrants to make
valuable contributions, others discussed the effect of introduced
plants and animals such as the Dingo, brought here from Asia
c.4000 years ago.
In reponse to requests from
past attendees, this year the committee is offering a 2½
day writing workshop Sat 29 and Sun 30 September and half
day Mon 1 October (the NSW long weekend). The workshop will
be lead by writer, poet, inspiring teacher and lecturer,
Graeme Kinross-Smith. The cost of $250 includes 2 lunches.
Graeme is a widely published
poet, writer of both fiction and non-fiction, writing teacher
and photographer. For many years he has taught creative
writing at Gordon Institute of Technology and Deakin University.
He is an Honorary Fellow in Arts at Deakin University
