A MILLION WILD ACRES
30th Anniversary Collector’s Edition
Australia’s greatest forest history featuring a foreword by Les Murray and Tom Griffiths’ essay ‘The Writing of A Million Wild Acres’.
Story-telling at its best: Age Book of the Year in 1981; one of the Ten Best Books of the Decade in 1984.
Eric Rolls embraced the vernacular to write a literary masterpiece. Men and women, animals and plants are equal participants in this compelling drama. The book tells the history of changes to the forests, especially to tree density, caused by Aboriginal burning, by its cessation, and by the arrival of immigrant settlers and animals. Rolls’ conclusions and their later misinterpretation for political purposes by both farmers and scientists are addressed in this edition by Tom Griffiths' seminal essay, ‘The Writing of A Million Wild Acres’.
