The Organisers, sometimes known as the Goddesses, are avid and discerning readers who believe in the capacity of literature to promote understanding of the natural world and encourage environmental awareness. Together they develop the Muster program, choose participating writers, undertake fundraising and plan all the Society’s events. In addition, each one undertakes specific tasks

Elaine van Kempen, founder and president, has a background in history, heritage conservation, event management and administration. She establishes and maintains liaison with Muster Writers and administers the Literary Fellowship. |

Mavis Barnes, secretary, formerly part owner of a city bookshop and later administrator of a university campus, is a community leader in Kendall, the home of the Muster. She co-manages, with Pam Perry, the two bookshops at the Muster. |

Lyndal Coote, treasurer, public officer and webmaster, has qualifications in nutritional science and marketing. Her professional life in Sydney included 11 years in publishing and bookselling before moving to the Camden Haven in 1998. She runs a marketing consultancy specialising in web design, marketing planning for small business and project management and coordinates the financial and logistical aspects of the Muster and other activities. |

Andrina Dawson, committee member, has worked in radio and film production and as an Education Officer with the British Museum. She has a particular interest in education and children’s literature and liaises with district schools. |

Rosemarie Piontek, committee member, trained as an industrial chemist and has also worked in the fashion and hospitality industries. She oversees catering for the Muster and other events and assists with recruitment of volunteer help. |

Pam Perry OAM, committee member, is a teacher and librarian who has worked in Northern Territory Indigenous communities. She was the founder of the Tennant Creek Desert Harmony Festival. She co-manages the Muster bookshops and assists with recruitment of volunteer help. |

Maggie Haswell worked in a number of different jobs in Ireland including as a customs officer, a horse riding instructor and a horticulturalist. She spent her first year in Australia travelling around the country fruit-picking. She now works as a full-time mum and donates part of her time to assist in running Bookends@Kendall. |
